The City of San Antonio and UT Health San Antonio are making efforts to provide up to date information and resources for the San Antonio community during the COVID-19 pandemic. Below are resources and links to resources to assist our community during this challenging time. Please check back frequently as information will be updated as information changes and new resources become available.
City of San Antonio COVID-19 Hotline and Web Resources
The San Antonio Metropolitan Health District has opened a COVID-19 hotline for residents to ask questions about the virus. The hotline is available in English and Spanish. Residents can call 210-207-5779 Monday – Friday from 8:00 am – 7:00 pm and Saturday & Sunday from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm to have their questions about COVID-19 answered.
Information for the public is also available on the Metro Health website which includes updated COVID-19 case and testing information. The City of San Antonio has also launched a COVID-19 Surveillance Dashboardthat provides up to date information about COVID case data.
Information regarding COVID-19 is also available in American Sign Language.
Residents of San Antonio are encouraged to download the Ready South Texas app, available in the iTunes and Google Play stores, to receive updates on the COVID-19 situation. Residents are also encouraged you to text COSAGOV to 55000 to receive SMS text message updates from the City of San Antonio.
As of April 3, 2020 San Antonio residents will no longer need a physician’s note to get a COVID-19 test. “San Antonio has received more testing supplies. With more tests available, we are able to break down barriers that people may face to getting tests, such as access to health care providers or insurance,” said San Antonio Metro Health Director Dr. Dawn Emerick in a statement. San Antonio residents are encouraged to utilize the Metro Health self-screening tool to evaluate their symptoms and potential exposure prior to seeking testing.
Testing is for COVID-19 is available through Metro Health and community health centers such as CommuniCare and CentroMed. At this time there is no charge Common symptoms of COVID-19 include a fever over 100.4 degrees, cough and shortness of breath.

If you are experiencing symptoms including fever, cough, and shortness of breath please contact your health care provider or the Metro Health COVID-19 hotline above. It is important to call before going into a clinic, urgent care, or emergency department, to prevent any potential spread.
How Can I Prevent the Spread of COVID-19?

- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, or use an alcohol-based hand rub
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick
- Stay home when you are sick
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using regular household cleaning spray or wipe
