ReACH Scholar, Dr. Carlos Jaén named to the board of National Library of Medicine

ReACH Scholar Carlos Jaén, MD, PhD, professor and chair of family and community medicine in the Joe R. & Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine, has been appointed to the board of regents of the National Library of Medicine of the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Jaén’s special interests include improving preventive care for individuals of all ages, preventing complications from chronic diseases like diabetes, high blood pressure and heart disease.

On June 20, 2016, Dr. Barbara J. On Monday, June 27, 2016 at 12:30 pm, Dr. Barbara J. Turner, Director of the Center to Advance Community Health (ReACH) at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio will lead a webinar entitled "Chronic Pain: The Hidden Epidemic" at the Frio Regional Hospital in Pearsall, TX.

White House recognizes South Texas hepatitis C control efforts lead by ReACH Director Dr. Barbara J. Turner

Dr. Barbara J. Turner was recognized Thursday, May 19, 2016 by the White House and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) during the 2016 National Hepatitis Testing Day observance in Washington, DC.

The University of Texas Heath Science Center at San Antonio's Center for Research to Advance Community Health (ReACH) lead by Dr. Barbara J. Turner was recognized Thursday, May 19, 2016 by the White House and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) during the 2016 National Hepatitis Testing Day observance in Washington, DC.  The White House and HHS acknowledged the center's initiatives to screen, evaluate and cure chronic hepatitis C infection in diverse healthcare settings caring for low-income populations across South Texas.
