As the number of cases of COVID-19 increase in our community, so does anxiety associated with the pandemic.  The mental health effects of COVID-19 are as important to address as the physical health effects. To aid individuals and communities during this time, the ReACH Center will be compiling a range of resources and information on our COVID-19 page

Local Census Response Rate

Are you interested in seeing how many people in your community are responding to the 2020 Census?  As of August 11th the national self-response rate of the 2020 Census is 63.4%. The self-response rate for Texas is 58.5%, and the self-response rate in Bexar County is 62.5%. Stay up to date with self response rates from across the U.S. on the Census Bureau website.

To encourage pariticpation in the 2020 U.S. Census Community Health Workers in San Antonio have put together an important public service annoucement on YouTube for the San Antonio community. It is not too late to complete the 2020 U.S. Census.  Our Community Health Workers count.  And you count too!  

CDC Recommends Face Coverings to Slow the Spread of COVID-19

With the help of scientists around the world we are increasingly learning more about how the COVID-19 virus spreads.  This information along with evidence of widespread community infection in many communities across the United States has prompted the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to issue a recommendation for people to wear cloth face coverings to cover their nose and mouth in community settings. 

Census 2020 - Help Us Make Sure That Everyone Counts!

Many people are unaware of how census data impacts their day-to-day lives. Further, in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s important for people to know that it has never been easier to respond to the census!  You can complete it online, by phone, or by mail, without having to meet a census taker. The response of you and your household to the 2020 Census is important.  Join us in making sure everyone is counted!

2019-2020 ReACH/IIMS Population Health Pilot Grants Program Funding Announcement

The Center for Research to Advance Community Health (ReACH), in conjunction with the Institute for Integration of Medicine and Science (IIMS) are pleased to annouce the 2019-2020 ReACH/IIMS Population Health Pilot Grants Program.  This program provides research grant funding up to $15,000 support innovative, multidisciplinary pilot projects in T3/T4 translational research focused on health disparities, health outcomes important to patients and the communities in the South Texas Catchment Area, and interventions to address those priorities will receive top priority.
