ReACH Director Joel Tsevat, MD, MPH Explores the Intersection of Value-Based Health Care and Cost-Effectiveness Analysis

When ReACH Director Joel Tsevat, MD, MPH joined the faculty at UT Health San Antonio and Dell Medical School at UT Austin in the summer of 2017 he was fascinated by the emphasis on value-based health care in terms of providing care and teaching value-based concepts to students and residents.  As a general internist with fellowship training in clinical decision making, Dr. Tsevat began to ask how value-based health care differs from traditional cost-effectiveness analysis.  Dr. Tsevat teamed up with  Dr. Christopher Moriates, Assistant Dean for Healthcare Value at Dell Medical School to articulate how the concepts of value-based health care and and cost-effectiveness analysis come together and how they should work together.  Click here to read more about how value-based health care and cost-effectiveness analysis intersect and how each discipline can learn from the other to maximize on outcomes achieved per dollar spent.
