ReACH Center Population Health Postdoctoral Fellowship

With funding from the UT System Collaborative on Population Health Innovation and Improvement and the Center for Research to Advance Community Health (ReACH), UT Health San Antonio is creating a new 2-year post-doctoral fellowship in population health. Eligible applicants are individuals who have received a doctoral degree and who are pursuing additional research and training in order to have better skills to pursue a career in academia, research or any other field.  For more information click here.

ReACH Center pilots Tailgate Kitchen community nutrition program

On Wednesday, February 28th Ludivina Hernandez, CHW  and Kimberly Peacock, EdD with the Center for Research to Advance Community Health (ReACH) partnered with South Central Area Health Education Center (AHEC) to host Tailgate Kitchen, a community nutrition class at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church in San Antonio. A total of 23 women participated in the event  which incluced a presenation and cooking demonstration by Dr. Peacock.The presentation focused on the prepartation of two, healthy low-cost crockpot meals and included tips on how to shop healthy, and foods to avoid. At the conclusion of the presentation all of the participants had the opportunity to taste the meals from the demonstation and discussed modifications that could be made for their families.  The class was so well received that the church invited Dr. Peacock to host a series of classes in the upcoming months!  Stay tuned for more informaiton about Tailgate Kitchen!
